Christophers first novel delves deep into the thoughts and life of a middle aged woman forced to rebuild her life after separation. A rediscovery of herself emotionally and sexually.  Stella is confronted by challenges she must overcome. Both serious and humorous this novel is described as a page turner.

Stella sat nervously on the bench, shoulders hunched, head bowed and looking at her hands. They were clasped tight and resting on her lap.  The bench was made of cold steel and painted red. Graffiti scratches declaring love and hate were etched between individual names and nicknames. How the hell had it come to this? The corridor had several such benches, all the same, occupied by a variety of individuals, mostly with short hair, tattoos and clothes from Poundland. Walls, standard magnolia looking tired. A couple of vending machines and a water cooler were the sole source of sustenance. There were doors marked as toilets that, frankly, Stella had no desire to investigate any further.  Also the corridor held number of other rooms with keypad locks and no identity as to what is behind them save for chicken wire viewing windows inset. The booking-in area run by people in black gowns behind glass. They had a distinct lack of enthusiasm about them. As for the Poundland Posse, trainers, T-shirts and the aroma of stale cigarettes (or something more herbal) was flavour of the day. Elasticated grey tracksuit bottoms, which customarily failed to cover the top of their arse and thus exposed, as a symbol of fraternity, the brand of underwear for all. Many in their twenties but some elderly, homeless looking, and the smell of body odour was intense making Stella want to retch.
